Prevention is your best alternative way to treat a kidney infection before it develops. Unfortunately, the only treatment that will eliminate a kidney infection, caused by a bacterial invasion, is antibiotics. However, you can treat the secondary symptoms, such as pain. A heating pad can help alleviate the pain in your back and abdomen and an over-the-counter pain reliever can reduce your discomfort. Drinking plenty of fluids can help reduce the bacteria by flushing it out of your body.
