Once you have a bladder infection with noticeable symptoms, using antibiotics is the most effective treatment. Some doctors also recommend drinking extra water to flush the urinary tract, and avoiding alcohol, spicy foods and coffee. A heating pad may help to relieve some of the pain from a bladder infection. For women who have recurring infections, alternative methods of antibiotic treatment may help.
