Once you start a bladder training program, it may take six to eight weeks for results to appear. Bladder training programs may help people with overactive bladder. One part of the program involves scheduling toilet trips, in which you only go to the bathroom on a planned, routine basis. Typically this would be every two to four hours. Scheduled toilet trips are often recommended for the elderly. It also helps those who are frail or bedridden. This method may help people with Alzheimer’s disease as well.
