How do medications treat undescended testis?

Undescended testis can be treated with injections of the hormones human chorionic gonadotropin (HGC) or testosterone. The increased levels of either of these hormones may stimulate the undescended testis into moving down into the scrotum on their own. Hormone treatment is generally not as effective as surgery. Furthermore, it may have a long-term side effect of stimulating early puberty.
