Muscle gain requires performing sets of resistance exercise at moderate to high intensities, with minimal rest between sets. Therefore, performing cardiorespiratory exercise at heart rate zones and intensities that mimic those used in the resistance training program, with similar rest or recovery periods, may help increase the cardiorespiratory capacity needed during muscle-building workouts.
