Interval training is intense, and it gets results. But experts agree that even the most skillfully planned and consistently executed workout will not produce the desired results without proper nutrition. If a person is undereating, she is overtraining. Try a light meal or a meal-replacement product no less than an hour before a workout. After exercise, make sure to replenish glycogen stores and refuel the muscles. It’s also critical to stay hydrated. Drink at least 4-8 oz of fluid every 15-20 minutes during exercise. Choose from water, sports drinks, watered-down fruit juice or flavored water.
