There are many different strengths that can be developed through a training program depending on how the training program is performed. Some popular forms of strength seen in resistance training include stabilization strength, strength endurance and maximal strength. One can develop stabilization strength by performing resistance training exercises in unstable, yet controllable environments. This type of training forces the stabilizing muscles to become strong to help stabilize one's structure while performing the exercise. Strength endurance is the ability to repeatedly produce high levels of force for relatively prolonged periods. This is typically accomplished through the use of super sets (performing 2 exercises for the same muscle group back to back). Maximal strength is the maximal amount of force that a muscle can produce in a single, voluntary effort. This is accomplished through the use of more stable exercises using very high loads and low repetitions (1-5).
