How should I do a triceps press exercise?

To perform the triceps press follow the steps below:

Preparation

  1. Lie supine on a bench, with feet placed flat on the floor, toes pointing forward.
  2. Grasp a barbell or EX grip bar with hands approximately 12 inches apart.
  3. Begin with the bar at chest level.

Movement

  1. Keep entire body aligned, with back and head flat on the bench.
  2. Slowly press the dumbbells straight upward by straightening the elbows.
  3. Return to the starting position by slowly lowering the weight back to the start position.  
  4. Repeat as instructed
