When performing a standing, single-arm cable extension exercise, you want to first select the amount of weight on the cable machine that you want to use. Next, stand with your feet hip-width apart and pointed straight ahead.  Be sure to draw in your belly button and keep your neck relaxed. With the arm fully extended, hold the handle in one hand and start with it in front of your body around eye level. From this position, while keeping your arm straight, bring your hand to the side of your body, squeezing shoulder blades together and making sure your shoulders remain in a down and back position.  Pause and then return to the starting position. Perform this exercise for the desired number of repetitions and then repeat on the other side.
