How do the outcomes of traumatic and anoxic brain injuries compare?

Traumatic brain injuries and anoxic brain injuries may differ in their outcomes. Research suggests that recovery from an anoxic brain injury may not be as complete as a comparable brain injury that was caused by a trauma. This may be because anoxic brain injuries affect the neurons - nerve cells - while traumatic brain injuries tend to affect the axons - the long fibers of nerve cells.
