What types of running drills do distance runners do to improve technique?

Distance runners improve technique by strengthening areas of their bodies that are weak and the cause of their problem. If running technique is suffering because of weak hamstrings, then a strengthening program must be done to improve the muscles. Once the strengthening is complete, a coach must carefully watch the athlete's running form and make proper corrective suggestions. A great way to ensure that a runner has a strong base from the feet up their body, is to do barefoot sand sprint drills and sand running. Running barefoot on the grass is another way to strengthen the lower extremities. Doing hurdle walking drills, barefoot on the grass with a medicine ball held over your head, is a great way to strengthen the core muscles and improve running posture. High knee running drills are another way to improve mechanics from the feet to the chest. Abdominal-core circuits are another way to improve running posture.
