Does the body give signs to warn a track athlete of an impending injury?

The athlete's body is always talking to the athlete sending signals that something is wrong. An athlete has to be receptive to the signals that the body is sending and act upon the information that is being given. An example of this would be an athlete who lifted very heavy weights the previous day and awakens in the morning with a sore sacroiliac joint in their lower back. The athlete has a very intense hurdle session later that afternoon and feels tightness and numbness in their left hamstring while warming up. The body is trying to tell the athlete that there is a break down in the muscle firing patterns going down the leg. The athlete needs to recognize these signs and not continue with the intense hurdle session and make alternate, less intense plans for the rest of the workout to avoid possibly pulling the hamstring.
