Gardening is related to toxoplasmosis because the bacteria Toxoplasma gondii is often be found in dirt. Toxoplasma gondii is reproduced in the intestine of a cat and then distributed into the dirt through cat feces. Ingestion of the bacteria can cause toxoplasmosis. This is why it's a good idea to wear gloves while gardening and wash your hands thoroughly afterward.
