Who should not receive Ca-DTPA?

Because of the serious and life-threatening effects of radiation poisoning, in very few cases would a doctor choose to forgo Ca-DTPA treatment. If you have any of the following conditions, your doctor may take extra precautions when using Ca-DTPA: kidney dysfunction, hemochromatosis or asthma. Only your doctor can determine whether to prescribe Ca-DTPA based on your condition and medical history. Your doctor may suggest alternative treatments for your condition.
