How effective is a wisdom tooth extraction?

Wisdom teeth extractions are highly successful and are a pretty common procedure. Wisdom teeth are typically extracted when there is not enough room in the mouth and teeth for these extra teeth. The crowding can create discomfort or pain and result in other teeth becoming crooked. Wisdom are also removed when they are infected, damaging other teeth or there is evidence of other changes in the mouth that would impact having wisdom teeth. For these reasons, removal of wisdom teeth is highly effective in preventing later problems.
