If you have hypogeusia, avoid the temptation to eat more sugar and salt. This can increase your risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Instead, eat flavorful foods in many different colors and textures. Spices and herbs are healthy ways to make food more appealing. If your health permits, you may use butter, olive oil, cheese, bacon bits, or toasted nuts to enhance your food's flavor. Combination foods, such as pizza, can be hard for people with hypogeusia to taste, so you may want to avoid them.
