What are treatment options for colloid thyroid nodules?

If your thyroid is functioning at a normal level, you may not need treatment for thyroid nodules. However, if your nodules are causing an overactive thyroid, you may need to take thyroid hormones to regulate its function. Radioactive iodine is another medication option to decrease thyroid nodules. If your nodules are so large that they are causing difficulty swallowing or breathing, your doctor may recommend surgery to remove the nodules.
