What are the side effects of chemotherapy for throat cancer?

Dr. Jeanne Morrison, PhD
Family Practitioner

Chemotherapy treatment has different side effects depending on the types of medication used. Chemotherapy can make patients more susceptible to other illnesses because the medications also weaken the immune system. Other side effects are hair loss, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Fatigue, rash, pain in the joints, and swelling in the lower legs and feet are also common. Talk to your doctor about the best way to manage side effects.
