As a teen athlete, how do I pick a healthy snack?

Being a teen means you are constantly growing.  Therefore, your body needs fuel to keep yourself energized.  One thing to avoid when choosing snacks will be items loaded with sugar.  Chips, candy bars, and items alike are not going to be beneficial choices.  Focusing on lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables will give you fuel that will truly energize your body.  Some examples of healthy snacks include:

  • Raw almonds
  • Lara Bars
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Blueberries

These are only some of the many so give them a try.
