Shawn Edgington
Pediatrics

The top eight reasons children are cyberbullied (when a minor uses technology as a weapon to intentionally threaten or hurt another minor) are:

  1. They're physically or mentally challenged.
  2. They're gay.
  3. They have yet to hit their growth spurt.
  4. They're smarter than most of their classmates or are considered nerdy by the "in" crowd.
  5. They lack self-confidence.
  6. They follow the rules.
  7. They look or dress "differently."
  8. They don't defend or speak up for themselves when they are bullied.
