How is major depression in adolescents treated?

Great question. Major depression is a serious illness in both adolescents and adults and it is treated by first, making sure the adolescent's diagnosis is accurate by getting the opinion of a mental health professional; and second, getting treatment which includes behavioral health therapies, medications and sometimes hospitalization for intensive behavioral therapy and adjustment of medications. Since adolescents have special health needs and issues, it is best to seek out mental health professionals that have experience in diagnosing and treating adolescents with mental health issues.
