What type of robot is used for robotic-assisted surgery?

The da Vinci Surgical System is the robot used for robotic-assisted surgery. By robotic classification standards, this is what's known as a master-slave robot. It doesn't do anything on its own. It requires the surgeon to perform the act, and then it translates that into the technology that basically moves within the body. It's hard to find a hospital that doesn't offer the technology now. It's very common now across any specialty.

There are many different types of robotic equipment that are used to assist in surgery. One of the most well known is the da Vinci Surgical System, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2000.
