What services does the VA offer for substance abuse?

The VA offers treatment and care for the many veterans who have problems with use of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs including street drugs and prescription medications. Treatments include individual and group therapies, medications to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings. Long term care is available to all eligible veterans dealing with substance abuse and the related consequences such as PTSD, depression, irritability and pain. You can get help for substance abuse from your VA healthcare provider or VA medical center.
