How does delirium tremens affect the body?

Delirium tremens causes tremors and lethargy. Delirium tremens may cause increased heart rate, blood pressure, and fever which, if left untreated, may be very serious. The alcohol withdrawal process can lead to dehydration, and a depletion of thiamin in the body, leading to further complications. Some of these complications include seizures, pneumonia, and pancreatitis.
