Are some people addicted to several things at once?

It's not unusual for people to combine different objects of addiction. For instance, people who drink excessively often smoke; people who gamble tend to drink. Heroin users tend to have experience with many legal and illegal drugs. These patterns of combining objects of addiction are perhaps not surprising, considering that the brains of people with addiction are primed to gravitate toward substances or activities that can stimulate the reward pathways.
