Should I call 9-1-1 for someone who has had or is having a stroke?

With a stroke, time is critical. Try to determine when the signs began. Call 9-1-1 or the local emergency number immediately if you encounter someone who is having or has had a stroke, if you see signs of a stroke, or if the person had a mini-stroke, even if the signs have gone away. Note the time of the onset of signs and report it to the call taker or EMS personnel when they arrive.
