Who is part of a stroke treatment team?

A stroke treatment team will consist of lots of different specialists who can help after someone has had a stroke. For example:

  • physiotherapists, who help with walking and getting around
  • occupational therapists, who help with everyday things like washing, dressing and cooking
  • speech and language therapists who help with talking, reading, writing, and swallowing
  • psychologists, who are experts at helping people cope with their feelings after a stroke

All these specialists work together as a team.

Nurses, radiologists, and rehabilitation specialists are all part of stroke treatment.
