Can a person use interval-training techniques when strength training?

Most trainers don’t recommend combining cardiovascular intervals with strength training. They note that active rest (i.e., light cycling) between weight-training sets can diminish the intensity of strength training and contribute to overall fatigue. Strength training is an important part of every exercise program, but it should be kept separate from interval training.
