Stage 4 rectal cancer affects the body by spreading through the lymph nodes to other organs. Often, rectal cancer spreads to the liver or lungs. If you are experiencing symptoms of rectal cancer, your rectum may bleed, which could cause you to feel weak and tired. You also may lose weight unexpectedly or experience abdominal pain or bleeding while passing a bowel movement. Report any of these symptoms to your doctor immediately, as the recovery rate from rectal cancer is much higher if you catch the disease before it reaches stage 4.
