Although the specific rate of stage IV colon cancer is unknown, colon cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the United States. It is the second highest cause of death from cancer. Approximately 153,000 people get colorectal cancer (cancer of either the colon or rectum, both located in the large intestine) each year, with just over 50,000 deaths.
