How do medications treat stage IV colon cancer?

Stage IV colon cancer is most often treated by surgery. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy, if used, attack and kill the cancer cells. Targeted drug therapy may also be used. These drugs attack whatever defects caused the cells to begin to grow abnormally.
