How do other illnesses affect stage 0 squamous cell carcinoma?

Stage 0 squamous cell carcinoma doesn't usually affect your body's ability to fight illnesses because it hasn't spread past the first layer of skin. However, the condition may indirectly affect your body's response to illness because certain risk factors and treatments may weaken your immune system. Certain risk factors for squamous cell carcinoma, including some rare genetic disorders and anything that causes a weakened immune system, may also harm your body's ability to fight illness. Treatment, especially surgery and radiation, may also cause illnesses to have a more severe effect.
