What is stage 0 rectal cancer?

Rectal cancer, also commonly referred to as colorectal cancer, is cancer that occurs in the rectum, the last portion of the large intestine. Stage 0 is the first stage of rectal cancer. At stage 0, cancer is only present in the inner lining of the rectum. Rectal cancer hasn't yet spread beyond the lining to the space between the inner and outer walls of the rectum at stage 0, and recovery rates are high.
