How can having lots of friends keep me healthy?

The more you broaden your social horizons, the more options you’ll have. The more friends you have, the less likely you’ll fall into ruts with the same ones who drink and smoke all the time. What’s more, establishing a solid network of friends will help you deal with stressful periods. Support systems are incredibly important in our lives, helping to buffer us against some of the more serious life stresses. It helps to have a variety of support systems, from your academic/school life to your work life, religious life (if you have one), and any other group or community of people with similar interests.
