How can I know my baby is sleeping enough?

Parents are worried about whether their baby sleeps too much or too little -- at the newborn check, all the way through being teenagers. So at the newborn check, really what we're looking for is if the baby's not jaundiced and they are awake and alert each time they feed. Then we feel pretty good about their sleeping experience. Some infants sleep a lot more than others. People like to read books and get a general idea of what's going on, but there's such a broad range of sleep that as long as the baby's growing well, not jaundiced, wakes up to eat, parents are changing their diapers and giving them enough love, they pretty much are going to be fine.
