How do other illnesses affect sleep disorders?

Many illnesses may be the cause of, or a result of, a sleeping disorder. For example, the sleep disorder insomnia can sometimes be a complication of an underlying mental illness like depression. Conversely, untreated sleep apnea can result in serious complications such as stroke, high blood pressure and heart failure.
