What dental devices are used for sleep apnea?

The most researched dental devices for sleep apnea are known as MADs (mandibular advancement devices). The appliance  physically keeps the airway open by holding the lower jaw in a "forward" position during sleep. Other devices hold the tongue down and/or forward.
