How can I rejuvenate my skin?

Maureen Herrmann
There are many things you can do to rejuvenate your skin. It does vary depending on your age, skin type, amount of extrinsic damage caused over the years and overall health as to your best course of action. First step of action is to understand the preventive measures that can be practiced, such as using sun protection for all skin types year-round. Rejuvenating your skin needs to include both the inside out, which means plenty of rest, good diet and drinking lots of water. Next, there are both treatments and products that can assist in promoting cellular turnover and generating more healthy outer epidermis. First and most important using a retinoid product such as tretinoin (prescription) or (retinol) over the counter is the best thing you can do to stimulate healthy skin. Also, vitimin C, E, and other antioxidants can help repair damaged skin. Leave on products should be used consistently for best results and long term change. It is never too late to start a skin care regimen. Finally, if you are interested in doing treatments, there are many great technologies to repair and rejuvenate your skin. IPL, lasers, ultrasound, and chemical peels are all great options. The best thing would be to find a reputable dermatologist or plastic surgeon that would do a consultation and assessment of your individual concerns and help you build a treatment plan that is designed specifially for you.

Your skin covers your entire body and is at the forefront of your appearance. Try using a hydrating body wash, such as one that contains jojoba butter. After your shower, pat your skin dry and then rub moisturizer onto your damp skin. Apply daily sunscreen to your face, and to your neck, arms, legs, and any body part that may be exposed to the sun.

If you have any areas on your skin that are red or itchy, you may find relief by using cold compresses followed by a lotion that contains Vitamin B3. Those with sensitive skin should avoid any washes or lotions that contain fragrances, and also be weary of some “all natural” products. For example, if you are allergic to flowers and use a rose petal wash, you may have an adverse reaction. Your doctor can help you find the products that are right for you.
