What are some common ways of diagnosing nummular dermatitis?

Nummular dermatitis, a form of eczema, is a skin inflammation, characterized by coin-shaped lesions or dry patches. A dermatologist can usually diagnose the disease with a visual examination, but sometimes diagnosis may require a small biopsy. If the condition can't be determined through those methods, or your dermatologist believes allergies may be playing a role, patch testing may be used.
