How are skin tags removed?

It's fine to rip the tag off a new dress, but leave the removal of skin tags to a pro, says dermatologist Dr. Doris Day. In this video, she describes how dermatologists remove skin tags.

There are several ways to remove skin tags. The easiest method is to have your doctor use a local anesthetic to numb the area and then just cut the tag off. Laser surgery, cryotherapy and cauterization are also options, but they are riskier and more invasive.
