How do other illnesses affect vitiligo?

Other illnesses may be present before vitiligo appears. But whether these illnesses directly affect how and when vitiligo develops has not been proven. For example, autoimmune and thyroid disorders are common in people with vitiligo. Sunburn may be related to vitiligo, but doctors are not sure. Other illnesses do not affect vertiligo.
