Is there a hidradenitis suppurativa gene?

Scientists believe that genetics plays a strong role in hidradenitis suppurativa. Studies have been done to try to isolate a gene that causes this condition. Some cases have been linked to a mutation in particular genes, but the mechanism by which this results in skin inflammation is not clear. Scientists are also trying to discover if other genes are involved.
