Is there a danger to skin in using gluten containing products?

Dr. Mehmet Oz, MD
Cardiology (Cardiovascular Disease)

Gluten is only a problem for people with celiac disease. Many grain foods contain gluten, and people with celiac disease cannot digest it properly. However, your skin won't absorb the gluten in skin care products, so people with celiac disease should be able to use cleansers and other gluten containing products on their skin and hair. But be careful to avoid using gluten containing products inside or near your mouth so that you do not accidentally ingest them.
