How common is basal cell carcinoma?

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer. More than two million cases are diagnosed every year. Similar to other skin cancers, BCC tends to grow on areas that are exposed to sunlight. It is important to bring any mole or area of concern to your healthcare provider's attention before these areas spread.
