Can eye creams hide dark circles under the eyes?

Dr. Mehmet Oz, MD

The best tested circle erasers contain caffeine.

Dark circles are almost impossible to treat with topical products because they’re often caused by genetics, like thin skin or larger veins in the under-eye area, and allergies. Eye creams with caffeine can temporarily help with under-eye puffiness by reducing water retention to give the area a smoother appearance. They can also help with dark circles as they constrict blood vessels, but they only affect the skin’s top layer. If your dark circles are more than skin deep, they probably won’t disappear altogether, but they may fade enough over time.
