Should I do cardio in addition to skating?

Cross training, or engaging in other forms of cardio, is advisable for a skater. Increasing endurance will help your skating, and finding other activities that are enjoyable can help avoid injuries caused by repetitive movement. Many skaters enjoy jogging, rollerblading, or low-impact cardiovascular machines in a gym like an elliptical trainer.  Cross training with yoga or dance can increase skills for skating and may also improve focus and technique.
