How do I care for someone in neurogenic shock?

Neurogenic shock is not a chronic condition. It is an emergency situation that can result from an injury to the nervous system, such as the brain or spine. Call 911 immediately and manage your loved one's condition. Do not give them anything to eat or drink, and if possible, lay them on the ground and raise their feet slightly. If damage to the brain or spine may have occurred, do not move the person to prevent further damage. Depending on the cause, recovery may be slow and require additional treatment.
