What are the side effects of dexmedetomidine?

There is a wide range of side effects associated with dexmedetomidine, but it is difficult to determine how significant these are. Side effects include: fever, pain, blood pressure fluctuation, hypotension, dizziness, seizures and headaches. They also include: diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bradycardia, ventricular as well as supraventricular tachycardia, liver disorders and acidosis. Dexmedetomidine might also result in agitation, confusion, anemia, renal disorders, hypoxia, increased sweating, hemorrhage, photopsia and abnormal vision.
