Is Ambien CR prescribed for older adults?

Ambien CR (zolpidem tartrate extended-release) is prescribed for adults over 65 years of age. There have been some findings that older adults are more sensitive to the sedative effect of the drug, so a lower dosage may be used. Incidents of confusion, dizziness, and falling have also been seen in older adults, so a lower dosage will reduce the possible side effects.
