Seasonal Affective Disorder

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) refers to a type of depression that occurs around the same time every year, usually around the fall and winter months. SAD may sometimes coexist with bipolar disorder and depression. People with SAD may become depressed, sleep excessively, withdraw from friends and family and experience low energy. However treatments like light therapy, a healthy diet, consumption of omega-3s and counseling can all help combat these symptoms.
